The XX Shooting Championship in Guatemala is going on

The XX Shooting Championship in Rifle and Pistol takes place in Guatemala from June 14th to 22th.

16 countries (Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guadeloupe, Aruba, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Barbados, Panama and Nicaragua) are making more tan 300 starts in all events  during the  tournament. Also 106 quotas in total for the next Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador next year, will be allocated.

 

Mariel López from Nicaragua won the first Gold Medal in 10m Air Rifle Women, with Dianelys Perez from Cuba and Andrea Palafox from Mexico who took Silver and Bronze, respectively.

 

In 10m Air Rifle Men, Carlos Quezada from Mexico took Gold, and his teammate José Sanchez took Silver. Julio Iemma from Venezuela won Bronze.

 

The Olympic Tokyo-2020 Medalist Lauris Pupo from Cuba won in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men. His teammate Jorge Alvarez took Silver, Pablo Castillo from Guatemala was the Third.

 

In the Sport Pistol, Delmy Cruz from Guatemala won Gold, and Laina Perez from Cuba with Andre Ibarra from Mexico won Silver and Bronze medals, respectively.

 

After the first week of competitions, Mexico leads the Medal Standing with 6 Golds, 2 Silver and 3 Bronzes. Cuba took 4 Golds, 5 Silver and 3 Bronzes. Guatemala is going right behind Cuba with 4 Golds, 4 Silver and 3 Bronzes.
