The 50m Pistol Men Junior competition was a tight match and would have made for interesting final competition, but at the World Shooting Championships, finals are only contested for open events. The winner’s podium was as diversified as the top eight competitors--each from different federations. Tomasz Palamarz of Poland technically tied Dino Briganti of Italy with a total score of 558 points in regard to match points, but Palamarz hit thirteen to Briganti’s seven bulls-eyes, thus securing the gold medal. Palamarz also had a strong finish scoring 95, 94, and 94 in his last three series. Andreas Heise, the hometown hero, earned a bronze medal and loud cheers from the large German contingency to witness his medal ceremony. Heise finished with 552 points.
