17-year-old Indian shooter Arjun Singh Cheema claimed the first international gold medal of his career in Changwon (KOR), where the 52nd ISSF World Championship in all events is currently underway.
At the Changwon International Shooting Centre, Cheema ruled the 50m Pistol Men Junior event, finishing with the score of 559 points, while his 18-year-old teammate Gaurav Rana won the bronze with 551.
Four points away from the highest score, 19-year-old shooter Kim Woojong of the Republic of Korea took silver on his home turf.
The Indian team also secured the team gold medal with 1659 points, followed by the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China, who respectively finished with 1640 and 1642 points.
The ISSF World Championship in Changwon will continue tomorrow with four more finals: the 10m Air Rifle Men, scheduled at 12:15 pm (UTC+9:00), the 10m Air Rifle Women, taking place at 2:15 pm, the Trap Women Junior, taking place at 3:30 pm, and the Trap Men, scheduled at 4:45 pm.
