The latest edition of the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Lonato has been praised by International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Ivo Ferriani, who remarked the improvements since his last visit.

Mr. Ferriani, who has led the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) as its President since 2010, has visited the Trap Concaverde shooting range on many occasions during his years as a sports administrator and following the 2025 edition of the ISSF World Cup here, he spoke to ISSF media about his impressions.

"It has been a fantastic day today in Lonato: the weather is fantastic, organisation has been incredible, and I can see some improvement since last time I was here two years ago," said Mr. Ferriani.

"There has been more attention to the sponsor, the public, and also the quality service of the athletes. The Federation [ISSF] has moved forward very well."

He was keen to vindicate the hard work of the ISSF team, who in the past two years, have worked hard to improve the presentation and sponsorship of their events, as well as provide the athletes with more input.

Mr. Ferriani, who has served as an IOC member since 2016 and on the Executive Board since 2018, also noted how crucial it is for home athletes to win on home soil. He added that a particular inspiring moment for home-nation sports shooters and those around the world was the victory for the iconic Giovanni Pellielo, who won the men's trap at the age of 55.

"It's an honour for Italy to have such a good competition, because that shows our capacity to organise high-level events; and also for the Italian athletes, because we create also good models for creating also the future champions."

Speaking of strong role models, Ferriani added how important it was for the sport to go viral during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and explained why Turkey's Yusuf Dikec and Republic of Korea's Kim Yeji became beloved during and after their time in Chateauroux.

He said: "These two athletes were incredible, because we need a role model. Sometimes we are surprised to see some athletes look very relaxed - and then shoot incredibly and that creates story.

"We need emotion in the Games, and such people create such emotion for the spectators. They want to see champions, but they want to see people go a little bit out of the normality."

Mr. Ferriani is one of Europe's most experienced sports administrators, and alongside his other IOC and IBSF responsibilities, also sits on the Sustainability and Legacy, Athletes' Entourage and Gender Diversity, Diversity and Inclusions Commissions.
