ISSF President Luciano Rossi and Chinese Shooting Association (CSA) President Liang Chun have met to speak about future development plans in the country.

It comes after the hosting of the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol in Ningbo, where Presidents Rossi and Liang were joined by representatives of the China Shooting College, an academy which started two years ago featuring some of the nation's best prospects.

Since its inception, the China Shooting College has admitted 142 students from 24 provinces nationwide, including the likes of Asian Games champion Du Linshu and Tain Jiaming. This institution develops young athletes through a setup akin to the national team, whilst providing university education for them.

In these talks, President Rossi and the China Shooting College leadership discussed the possibility of hosting international coaching courses in the nation, as well as training students through international competitions such as ISSF World Cups in China, to improve their skills through internships.

There is also opportunity to gain Master's and Doctorate degrees through the system. University courses include sporting background and shooting practice for those who are selected. Students, who are on average 17 years old, are the best in the country, with many representing China internationally.

Entry to the institute requires registering your interest and passing an exam focused on culture, as well as a section related to shooting knowledge. There has also been two training sessions held at the college for Chinese coaches so far, with nearly 100 attending in each.

Mr. Liang said: "This college is very attractive to them, because they can get a degree after graduation. They can also learn some shooting sport. After their graduation, they can go continue as the shooters, or maybe they can study to become the judges or the coaches for our China team.

"I believe the partnership between China and the International Shooting Sport Federation is getting better and better under the leadership of Mr. Rossi.

"So we will hold as many competitions as possible, to shoulder the responsibility of China as a powerhouse for international shooting."
