International Shooting Sport Federation Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo has met with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to outline equality development goals for the organisation.

Mr. Nicotra di San Giacomo was joined by Chris Marsh, Summer Sport Operations Manager; Charlotte Groppo, Head of Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Primrose Mhunduru, Gender Equality and Inclusion Manager;  and Maddie Dunn, Summer Sport + IF Relations Manager.

There was encouraging feedback from the IOC when analysing the ISSF's operations, including the number of athletes and coaches in shooting sport being higher than average at the end of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games cycle, when compared to other International Federations.

It was also pointed out that although there is still room for improvement, gender representation through athletes and coaches in shooting sport has improved greatly since the end of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games cycle.

ISSF Secretary General, Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo said: "Our meeting with the International Olympic Committee showed the hard work we have achieved in making our sport accessible to all, but also where we can strive to be even better.

"Our team has taken the feedback and suggestions from the IOC on how we can improve gender equality and representation and we look forward to implementing this in the near future."

The IOC and the ISSF representatives pledged their commitment to improving gender representation across shooting sport, including in governance positions.
