Switzerland's Anja Senti delivered a near-perfect result in the women's 300m rifle prone event, winning the gold medal at the 2025 ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol in Cairo, Egypt - three years after claiming the title in the city.

Senti was joined on the podium by Norwegian duo Jenny Vatne and Katrine Lund, with all three separated by just one point.

The Final

The winner of the world title the last time the competition came to Egypt in 2022, Senti looked to make amends for her 10th place finish two years ago in Baku. This time, she had an opening half to remember, scoring a perfect 100 on two occasions to start with 299 from her first three series.

But the equal world record holder was not the only athlete to do this. Jenny Vatne and France's Olivia Popielski would match the Swiss athlete, while Katrine Lund was one behind on 298. The two athletes who had started with a perfect 300 were Vatne and Lund's Norwegian teammate Jeanette Hegg Duestad, the 50m rifle 3 positions winner, and Slovenia's Urska Kuharic.

With Senti and Vatne scoring 100 in the fourth series, they joined Kuharic at the top on 399, with Duestad one behind after scoring 98. Popielski was one further behind at this stage on 397 with Germany's Lisa Grub and Lund.

The quality of Senti and Vatne kept them at the top in the final two series - as both scored 99 and then 100 to finish on a total of 598, one behind the world record. They would be split on the number of perfect shots, as Senti scored 39 to Vatne's 37. For Kuharic, a medal would slip away as she scored 98 and 97 to finish eighth on 594. Meanwhile, Lund scored a perfect 200 in her final two series to finish with 597.

It would mean two Norwegians on the podium, but the one to miss out would be Duestad, whose 99 scores dropped her behind her teammate on 596. Both Grub and Popielski would score 199 from 200 to lose touch with Lund, placing fourth and fifth, tied with Duestad in sixth. If Grub had scored a perfect 200, she would have taken bronze based on the number of perfect shots.
