The top five in contention for the ISSF Women's Pistol Athlete of the Year award have been confirmed, to be announced during the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 ISSF World Cup Final in Doha, Qatar, on 5 December.

Based on the votes of independent specialists from the ISSF Athletes' Committee, Coaches Committee and a selected panel of media, the top five in men's and women's rifle, pistol and shotgun have been determined. All athletes were eligible for voting.

The top athletes, in alphabetical order, are as followed.
Oh Ye-jin

The Olympic champion in the 10m air pistol continued her good form into this year, winning silver in the 25m discipline twice and and taking bronze in the 10m distance once during the ISSF World Cup season.

Although no medal joy would come for Oh Ye-jin at the Asian Championships, she won her first senior world medal in Cairo, when she took mixed team bronze. She was just outside the finals for the 25m and 10m distances too in 11th and 12th.
Suruchi Singh

The Indian was the dominant force on the ISSF World Cup circuit in the 10m air pistol, winning consecutive golds in Buenos Aires, Lima and Munich, while also taking mixed team gold and bronze during the South American section. Her individual achievements mean she has won gold in all three of her career appearances to date.

The 19-year-old had a solid ISSF World Championship debut too. She placing eighth in the mixed team event and came close to the final in the 10m air pistol, placing 14th.
Sun Yujie

Like Suruchi Singh's dominance in the 10m air pistol, the same could be said for China's Sun Yujie in the 25m pistol. The 21-year-old debuted on the World Cup, winning all three events she entered this year before opting to miss Ningbo.

She returned in Cairo for the ISSF World Championship, and on her debut, finished fourth in the 25m standard pistol and 19th in the 25m pistol.
Yang Ji-in

The 2024 Athlete of the Year and 25m pistol Olympic champion only got her season underway in Munich, where she took bronze, following it up with a gold in Ningbo over 25m too.

In her preferred distance, she would place eighth in the Asian Championships final, but did take silver in the 10m air pistol.

Her highlight of the year came in Cairo when she took her first senior world title in a dramatic 25m pistol final, meaning she has golds at Olympic, world and Asian level.
Yao Qianxun

The most consistent female pistol shooter this year has been Yao Qianxun.

During the World Championship, she claimed titles in the 10m air pistol, 25m standard pistol and 50m pistol, as well as the mixed team event, adding a silver in the 25m pistol.

While she would not win any individual gold medals at the ISSF World Cup, she would win two golds and two silvers in the mixed team, as well as one silver and three bronze medals individually across 10m and 25m. Even outside the medals, Yao had finishes of fourth, fifth, sixth and ninth.

She would also set a world and junior world record in the women's 50m pistol, as well as a new qualification junior world record in the 10m air pistol.
