ISSF President Luciano Rossi, ISSF Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo, and Qatar Shooting & Archery Association Secretary General Jassem Al-Sulaiti addressed the media, highlighting the significance of the competition and the strong partnership between the ISSF and Qatar.
ISSF President Luciano Rossi commended the local organisers for their professionalism and reaffirmed Qatar’s growing role as a premier destination for international sport:
“We extend our gratitude for the excellent work carried out in preparing an event of this calibre. Qatar is increasingly becoming a global centre for major sporting events—not only in shooting sport, but also in disciplines such as Formula 1 and football. We are proud that shooting sport stands alongside these world-renowned competitions.
Our strong relationship with Qatar is reflected in the fact that, in 2026, Doha will host the first Olympic quota allocation event for the LA 2028 Games, with the World Championships, which takes place in November. Once again, Doha will be at the heart of world shooting sport.
Speaking of the purpose of our visit today, the ISSF World Cup Final brings together the best athletes of the season, each of whom earned their place to compete here. With 129 athletes from 33 Member Federations, the event represents a competition of the highest significance. We are honoured to be here and sincerely appreciate the outstanding hospitality, which makes Qatar feel like a second home. The ranges, organisation, and officiating are all of the highest international standard.”
ISSF Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo emphasised the strategic value of this year’s Finals for the evolution of the sport and its competition formats:
“This event is not simply another competition— it serves as an important testing ground for the new formats we are introducing. It offers an exceptional opportunity to evaluate the new competition structures, the VAR system, and additional technical equipment.
Our decision to award the 2026 World Championship—with its 36 Olympic quota places—to Qatar is not only based on our excellent relationship, but also on Qatar’s proven ability to deliver events of exceptional quality. We extend our sincere thanks to our hosts for their commitment and professionalism.”
Jassem Al-Sulaiti expressed Qatar’s pride in hosting the 2025 ISSF World Cup Final and underscored the productive cooperation behind its preparation:
“We thank the ISSF for the trust placed in us to host such a prestigious competition. The collaboration between the ISSF and the Qatar Shooting Federation has been exceptional at every stage, and it continues to elevate both Qatar’s capabilities and the development of shooting sport globally.”
With a packed three-day of finals schedule, the 2025 ISSF World Cup Final are set to deliver world-class performances, showcase innovation, and reinforce Doha’s status as a leading venue for international shooting sport.
