The ISSF has continued to show its preparations towards inclusion on the sporting programme at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games by meeting with the Organising Committee, as well as the key stakeholders in the Australian state of Queensland.
Strategic talks were held concerning shooting sport's location and position, if selected for Brisbane 2032, with the ISSF showcasing the benefits shooting sport could bring to the city, the state, the country and the wider region.
These included with the Chief of Staff, Kit McConnell, and Brendan Keane, Director of Sport for the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee; Queensland Minister of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games, Tim Mander; and the Queensland Independent Infrastructure Coordination Authority, led by ISSF President Luciano Rossi and joined by Australian Olympic Committee Executive Committee member and ISSF Vice President Cath Fettell, Shooting Australia CEO and ISSF Executive Committee member Adam Sachs, and ISSF Sport Director Peter Underhill.

This venue is adjacent to the larger Sleeman Sports Complex that includes the Anna Meares Velodrome, Brisbane SX International BMX Circuit, Brisbane Aquatic Centre and Chandler Arena, which is set to play a major part in hosting BMX and track cycling. Plans are being implemented to coordinate transport plans and spectator experience as well as synergies with shared spectator spaces and a place for a festival of sport.
During their time at the Belmont Shooting Complex, they met with Peter Doig, CEO of the Queensland Rifle Association and Dale Salmon of the Queensland Government Department of Sport.
This included options for legacy and social impact after the Games, and bringing international shooting events to Brisbane ahead of the Olympics. There was discussion over cooperation and mutual messaging with India too, who are to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
The ISSF also presented the benefits of shooting sport development in countries that have performed well in recent years, including China, the Republic of Korea, India and Japan. Prospective integration of shooting sport and Para shooting sport was mentioned too, showing the positives of working with one International Federation to deliver across the Olympics and Paralympics.
