The ISSF Technical Committee met at the headquarters of the German Shooting Sport and Archery Federation (DSB) in Wiesbaden on 3 and 4 February, under the chairmanship of Executive Committee member and Chairperson of the ISSF Technical Committee Joerg Brokamp. In addition to members of the Technical Committee, invitations were extended to the Chairs of the ISSF Athletes, Judges and Discipline Section Committees. The meeting agenda covered a wide range of important technical and strategic matters affecting the development of shooting sport, as well as detailed updates on forthcoming major events and initiatives.
The Committee received comprehensive reports on recent visits conducted by ISSF leadership, together with the Sports Director and Event Manager, to the organisers of the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032. These visits, carried out around the end-of-year period, confirmed that preparations for both Games are progressing well within their respective planning phases, with venues and sport operations advancing through strong cooperation between the Organising Committees and ISSF. Further liaison and follow-up visits to LA28 are planned later this year as operational planning continues to develop.
Among the key topics discussed were the implementation of the new ISSF Rules and a review of the recently introduced finals event format, including updates related to sport presentation, broadcast requirements and field-of-play technical delivery. The Committee also reviewed the ISSF championship and event calendar for the 2026–2028 period and exchanged views on the future structure of the international calendar beyond 2028. Discipline representatives provided updates on matters affecting athletes within their respective events, outlining current challenges and potential solutions.
Additional discussions addressed rifle clothing regulations, the organisation and implementation of equipment control procedures, and the introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) systems at forthcoming events. The Committee also reviewed topics including World Rankings, Olympic qualification systems and World Records. On the occasion of the meeting, the ISSF President conveyed his appreciation through a letter to the Technical Committee for its continued contribution to the development of the sport, while Chair Joerg Brokamp thanked members for their ongoing commitment and work towards LA28 and beyond.
