The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) confirms that elections for the Athletes Committee will take place during the ISSF World Championships in Doha, scheduled for November 2026.
Athletes participating in the Championships will have the opportunity to vote for their representatives.
The Athletes Committee plays a key role in the governance of shooting sport, acting as a direct link between athletes and the ISSF. Its responsibilities include gathering feedback from athletes, contributing to the evaluation of rules and regulations, supporting athlete welfare and conditions at competitions, and collaborating with athlete bodies across the Olympic Movement.
Through its work, the Committee ensures that athletes’ voices are reflected in decision-making processes and the ongoing development of the sport.

Representing athletes worldwide
The Athletes Committee is composed of 10 members, including a Chairman and nine members representing the three disciplines — shotgun, rifle and pistol. Six members (two per discipline) are elected directly by athletes, while three members (one per discipline) are appointed by the ISSF Executive Committee, taking into account continental representation and voting results. The Chairman is elected from among the members, with an additional tenth member allocated based on the highest remaining votes within the Chairman’s discipline.
The Committee must ensure gender balance, with at least four members of each gender, and include representation from all Continental Confederations.
Further details on the election process are available in the official regulations here.
