The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) conducted an Integrity Workshop on 20 April at 10:00 (local time) at the Olympic International City Shooting Range, bringing together key representatives from across the shooting sport community.

A total of 25 presidents and secretaries general, representing 15 Member Federations, attended the three-hour session, aimed at promoting integrity best practices and strengthening governance standards within the sport.

The workshop was led by ISSF Integrity Officer Eddie Marshbaum, with the presence of ISSF President Luciano Rossi; ISSF Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo; former trap athlete and Africa Liaison to IOC Athletes’ Commission Gaby Ahrens; and ISSF Executive Committee member, president of the African Shooting Federation and Egypt Shooting Federation Hazem Hosny.

The session opened with welcoming remarks from the ISSF leadership, setting the tone for a collaborative and forward-looking discussion on integrity in shooting sport.

Participants were then introduced to the work and role of the ISSF Integrity Unit, highlighting its importance in safeguarding the sport and ensuring alignment with international standards, including those of the Olympic Movement.
Throughout the workshop, strong emphasis was placed on the importance of integrating integrity principles into the daily operations of each federation.

Key topics included governance standards, ethical responsibility and gender equity, with repeated focus on the need to not only understand these principles but actively implement them.

The session also featured interactive elements, allowing participants to share experiences, raise questions and engage in open discussion.

To reinforce practical understanding, participants took part in case-based exercises, simulating real-life integrity scenarios. These activities provided valuable insight into how theoretical principles apply in concrete situations.
At the conclusion of the workshop, all participants were awarded certificates, recognising their engagement and commitment to strengthening integrity within their respective federations.

ISSF President Luciano Rossi underlined the importance of such initiatives:

“This workshop represents another important step forward as we continue to guide our sport into a modern era — one built on strong governance, transparency and shared responsibility.”

The Integrity Workshop in Cairo reflects the ISSF’s ongoing efforts to support Member Federations and promote a culture of integrity across all levels of the sport.

By encouraging dialogue, sharing knowledge and providing practical tools, the ISSF continues to reinforce its commitment to a transparent, responsible and forward-looking shooting sport community.
