The Olympic shooting sport programme for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games continues to take shape, with further details confirming an ambitious competition schedule designed to maximise visibility and fan engagement.

Shooting competitions are expected to run from 15 to 23 July 2028, with medal events distributed across nearly every day of competition. The programme currently foresees 15 medal events across Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines.

One of the key focuses of the LA28 competition planning is international broadcast visibility. Current scheduling concepts include a larger number of evening finals, particularly for Rifle and Pistol events, helping ensure stronger live coverage opportunities across major international markets, including Europe and Asia.

The competition structure also aims to create a more spectator-friendly Olympic experience. Current venue planning foresees Rifle and Pistol events being hosted in a centralised competition hall within the Long Beach Sports Park, placing shooting sport alongside several other Olympic disciplines and increasing interaction with wider Olympic audiences.

Meanwhile, Shotgun events are expected to maintain the traditional outdoor identity of the sport at the Whittier Narrows Clay Shooting Center, with venue concepts focused on athlete comfort, spectator accessibility and broadcast presentation.

The LA28 project continues to reflect the broader objective of presenting shooting sport in a modern, accessible and globally visible way while maintaining the technical traditions and sporting values of the discipline.
