By missing only two targets of the Trap Men Final at the ISSF World Championships in Lonato 2005, Massimo Fabbrizi, 27, from Italy became the new World Champion.

The last final of the World Championships started off as an equal opportunity for Massimo Mola, 33, World Cup Bronze medalist of Athens 2004, the World Champion of Nicosia 2003, Karsten Bindrich from Germany and Massimo Fabbrizi, the World Cup Gold medalist of Perth 2003.While Mola missed four targets during the final and Bindrich even five, only Fabbrizi was able to stay on top winning the championship title and equaled the final world record of 144 targets. His team mate Mola placed second and won the Silver medal. The title defender Karsten Bindrich lost his one point lead of the qualification round to Josip Glasnovic, 22, from Croatia who shot 21 targets during the final, one more than Bindrich. The decision on the Bronze medal was finalized in the shoot-off in favor of Glasnovic: four to three. Glasnovic, Junior Bronze medalist of European Championships 2000 in the Double Trap Men event, participated today for the first time in an ISSF final in the Trap Men event. Bindrich placed fourth ahead of Lorenzo Santana from Spain and Giovanni Pellielo from Italy.
