Held in Hangzhou, the ceremony brought together representatives from the ISSF, the Chinese Shooting Association, government authorities and the local Organising Committee, marking the official opening of one of the largest ISSF World Cup events of the season.
In his opening address, ISSF President Luciano Rossi welcomed athletes from around the world and thanked the organisers for their commitment to delivering another outstanding ISSF competition.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were ISSF President Luciano Rossi, Chinese Olympic Committee President and Minister of Sport Gao Zhidan, Chinese Shooting Association President Liang Chun, officials from the Zhejiang Provincial Government and representatives of the Hangzhou Organising Committee.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the ISSF Diploma of Honour to Chinese Olympic Committee President and Minister of Sport Gao Zhidan, in recognition of his contribution to the development of shooting sport and his continued support for the successful organisation of international competitions in China. The award was presented by ISSF President Luciano Rossi.
The ceremony showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Hangzhou region through a series of artistic performances. Traditional dancers took to the stage in colourful displays inspired by Chinese history and culture, including choreographies paying tribute to the legendary Chinese warriors. The audience was also treated to breathtaking acrobatic performances combining athleticism and artistry, while groups of local children brought energy and joy to the celebration with vibrant dance routines.
The official opening of the World Cup came with an innovative celebration reflecting the spirit of shooting sport. Following the official declaration of the opening of the competition, the distinguished speakers each aimed a ceremonial pistol at a large illuminated bowl. Their simultaneous shots triggered a spectacular visual effect, symbolically announcing the start of the ISSF World Cup Hangzhou 2026 to the applause of the audience.
The ISSF World Cup Hangzhou 2026 welcomes 686 athletes from 66 ISSF Member Federations, representing 61 countries, who will compete in 1,089 starts across the Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines from 20 to 29 July.
The competition continues on Wednesday with the first medals of the World Cup set to be decided as the world's best shooters begin their quest for podium success in Hangzhou.
