With the launch of the Coach’s Corner in the ISSF newsletter, the ISSF is proud to highlight the expertise and experience of leading figures in the coaching community also in the ISSF website.

This edition features Lauryn Mark of Australia, a highly respected shotgun (skeet) coach with two decades of experience at the highest level of the sport.

Currently working as a private coach through “Go Shooting Pty Ltd,” she has guided numerous Olympians from countries around the world and brings a truly global perspective to her work. Her coaching career includes roles as National Women’s Skeet coach for India, Qatar, and Australia, with regular presence at major ISSF Championships.
What is your coaching philosophy in one sentence?
Believe in yourself and surround yourself with a team that can help you to achieve your dreams.

What is the one habit you try to build in every athlete you coach?
Learn the basic fundamentals correctly because you will need them under pressure

At elite level, what separates a good shooter from a great one?
A shooting competition is like a roller coaster ride. It will have its ups and down. The great competitors minimise the “downs”

How do you balance technical training with mental preparation in your sessions?
I apply specific high pressure training drills in an athlete’s practice sessions so they become accountable and familiar with stress and higher heart rates.
