The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) will once again recognise outstanding achievements in shooting sport through the 2026 ISSF Athlete of the Year Awards, celebrating athletes across eight categories.

The awards will recognise performances in Pistol, Rifle and Skeet, while also giving fans around the world the opportunity to vote for their favourite athletes through the People’s Choice Awards.

The eight categories are:

- Pistol Men
- Pistol Women
- Rifle Men
- Rifle Women
- Shotgun Men
- Shotgun Women
- People’s Choice Men
- People’s Choice Women

The awards will follow two different voting processes. The six discipline-based categories will be decided through an internal voting process managed by the ISSF Athletes’ Committee. Public voting will take place exclusively for the People’s Choice Men and People’s Choice Women categories, allowing the global shooting sport community to play a direct role in selecting the winners.
Online voting for the two People’s Choice categories will take place in two phases.

Phase 1: 28 October – 5 November

The first phase will open at 00:00 UTC on 28 October and close at 23:59 UTC on 5 November. Fans will be able to vote for eligible athletes in the People’s Choice Men and People’s Choice Women categories.

Eligible nominees will be drawn from athletes ranked among the top 100 in the World Rankings who have competed during the 2026 season and earned World Ranking points.

Phase 2: 9–18 November

Athletes shortlisted during Phase 1 will advance to the second phase, opening at 00:00 UTC on 9 November and closing at 23:59 UTC on 18 November. Fans will have another opportunity to vote for their favourites, with the final results determining the winners of the two People’s Choice categories.
Recognising the season’s leading athletes

The 2026 ISSF Awards will recognise athletes across all eight categories, combining the internal selection process for Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun with public participation in the People’s Choice Awards.

Further details about the online voting process will be announced ahead of the opening of Phase 1 on 28 October.
