10m Running Target Mixed Women Junior Stage 2

Finland rules the 10m Running Target Mixed Junior events

Sami Heikkila from Finland first secured the gold medal in the 10m mixed event for men juniors. Then Micaela Qvarnstrom did the same in the women juniors competition. A third gold to Finland came in the men juniors team event.

“This is amazing. This was something I did want and that was why I have been training so much” Sami Heikkila said, wearing his two gold medals.

 

“Shooting was normal. I was a little bit nervous, but I controlled my nervousness” Said Heikkila, who shot 378 points. The 19-year shooter celebrated in the best possible way his birthday, on the layouts of the Stockholm’s ISSF Running Target World Championship, winning his last match as Junior athlete.

 

The second place in the individual men event went to Jani Suoranta, who scored 377 points, while the Bronze medal went to Ukraine's Vladlen Onopko, with an overall score of 374 points.

 

Micaela Qvarnstrom also brought Finland a Gold medal, in the women’s junior competition. With her result of 362 points she had a 3 point margin over the runner up Olena Chehovska from Ukraine, who landed in second place. The Bronze medal went to Veronika Major from Hungary.

Team gold medals to Finland and Ukraine

In the men juniors competition Finland won the team gold with 1114 points, while silver was taken by Russia with 1095 points and bronze to Ukraine with 1086 points. The Ukrainian women juniors won the gold in their competition. With their 1053 points they won with a margin of 54 points. Germany on silver position, 999 points, and bronze to Russian Federation 992 points.
