Munich World Cup opened, 1100 athletes at the starting blocks

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun · Munich, GER

The 2009 ISSF World Cup Series moved to Munich, Germany, where the fourth leg of this year’s series will take place at the 1972 Olympics shooting range that has just been renewed.

Germany welcomes a record-breaking ISSF World Cup stage in all Olympic events. About 1100 athletes will take part in the competition, which is held from the 12 through the 21 of May at the Olympic Shooting Range of Munich.

The 1972 Olympics range has been renewed to host the huge event, with a brand new five-range shotgun venue reconstructed next to the 1972 Games rifle and pistol halls. Athletes from all around the world will compete in all the 15 ISSF Olympic events, in the disciplines of Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun.

This world-level competition is a unique chance to test the renewed shooting venue, where the ISSF World Championships in all events will take place in 2010.

Athletes are firing the first shots this morning. The competitions will kick-off tomorrow with the first final round, the Trap Women even, which is scheduled at 6 PM (Munich Time, GMT/UTC+2).
