10m Air Pistol W- Olympic Champion GUO on the podium next to her teammate HU

Beijing’s Olympic Champion Guo Wenjun (CHN) won the 10m Air Pistol women final with a consistent advantage on her followers, preceding her teammate Hu Jun. Bronze went to Poland’s Sagun Lewandowska, who fired the highest score of today’s final.

The 2008 Olympic Champion of Beijing GUO Wenjun, 24, from China, won the 10m Air Pistol women final, shooting her first medal of the year and qualifying for the ISSF World Cup Final in Rifle and Pistol events.

The Chinese shooter, who had won also the 2008 edition of the ISSF World Cup stage of Milan, placed in first with a score of 489.9 points. The Chinese shooter had qualified for today’s final match in the lead, with a qualification score of 392 points, and shot a final of 97.9 points gaining the highest step of the podium.

While GUO shot in the lead with a safe advantage on the followers, her teammate HU Jun fought right to the last shot against the Polish shooter Miroslawa SAGUN LEWANDOWSKA to secure Silver.

HU, 30-year old, winner of the second world cup stage of this season held in Beijing, finished in second winning Silver with 488.5 (388+100.6) points.
She preceded Poland’s SAGUN LEWANDOWSKA, who placed in third winning Bronze with a total score of 486.0 points. The Polish athlete shot the highest score in the final, 101.0 points, climbing from sixth place she had on the start list with a qualification score of 385 points.

Following in fourth place, the Olympic Champion of Seoul 1988, the Serbian shooter Jasna Sekaric, scored 483.6 points, and secured the fourth place by outdoing Spain’s Sonia FRANQUET 10.6 to 8.7 in a shoot-off.

Beijing’s Olympic Bronze medallist Nino SALUKVADZE climbed from the eighth to the sixth place, finishing with 482 (384+98) points. She was followed by the third Chinese shooter TONG Xin, seventh with 481.9 (386+95.9) points and by Serbia’s Zorana ARUNOVIC, eighth with 480.3 (386+94.3) points.
