“Great atmosphere at the shooting range” IOC President Rogge Said

The ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña welcomed the IOC President Jacques Rogge at the Youth Olympics’ shooting range.

“It has been a great final, with real drama and emotions!” said the IOC President Jacques Rogge after the 10m Air Rifle Women Junior final, while following the award ceremony form the spectators’ tribune together with the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña.


“There’s a good atmosphere, here at the shooting venue! – Continued the IOC President – This new shooting range is going to be used by the Singapore Sport Schools also after the Games, so I am sure that it is going to be a good legacy for the future of the shooting sport in Singapore.”


“These Games were a great success. The organization has been very good. The athletes have been competing in fair play and at an outstanding level.”


“I am most pleased by the media coverage, – added Dr. Rogge, - both by traditional media and by the new media. We had more than 1000 journalists following the event on site, and more then 5 millions videos played on YouTube!”


The ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, closed the shooting competitions at the Singapore Sport School thanking the volunteers and the range officials together with the ISSF Technical Delegate for this competition, Carlos Silva Monterroso.


“Singapore’s Youth Olympic Games has been a great competition. In spite of being the first edition of this new competition, the results and the organization were excellent!” said the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña.


“The Shooting Sport competitions run perfectly, and our shooters reached excellent results,” the President continued. 


“The ISSF enjoys excellent relationships with all the members of the International Olympic Committee – added the ISSF President – We received today the visit of the IOC President Jacques Rogge and of the IOC Vice-President Thomas Bach, and we can see once again that the Shooting Sport received great support from the International Olympic Committee.”
