ISSF Running Target World Championship: Finland atop of the standings

The 2012 ISSF Running Target World Championship in Vasteras and Stockholm (Sweden) was closed by the 10m Running Target Men and Women medal matches, today.

About 100 shooters coming from 19 countries participated in the event: the 50-meter event where staged in Vasteras, and then the championship moved in Stockholm, next to the 1912 Olympic Stadium, where the 10-meter event closed the competitions.

 

The event, which took place in the frame of the celebrations of the 100-year anniversary of the 1912 Stockholm Olympic Games, saw the success of Finland, that finished atop of the rankings, securing seven Gold medals, four Silver and three Bronzes. Ukraine finished in second with five Gold, six Silver and nine Bronzes, in spite of securing the highest number of medals with 20 awards. China, eventually, placed in third, securing six medals, including four Gold, and two Silver medals.  (Considering also Junior and Team events).

 

“This has been a successful championship.” The Chairman of the ISSF Running Target Committee, Mr. Pekka Kuusisto of Finland said today, while officially closing the event.

 

“In behalf of the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña, and of the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber, I would like to thank the Organizing Committee for the great job they have been doing here in Sweden.” The Chairman continued.

 

“I have received several positive comments on the Championship. I believe that successful competition like this World Championship in Sweden will help our discipline on its way back to the Olympics.”

 

“See you all in Granada, where the 2014 ISSF World Championship in all events will be held!” Mr. Kuusisto concluded.
